“It may not be out of place to mention here that in Lagos, when chieftaincy family land is sold or acquired or leased out to tenants, it is the practice, which has been accepted by the Courts, for one third of the purchase price, or the amount paid as compensation on acquisition or as rent, to go to the Chief, a third for the upkeep of the stool expenses and the remaining one third is distributed among members of the family.”
